A friend posted this photo on my facebook wall. I have no idea where it is from (or why she posted it)
Dudes, I just noticed that today is my blogaversary.
I am feeling sorta down on this blog and was just working on a long, heartfelt piece about how I am not sure what I am doing with it - my insecurities (mainly around the stupid fucking name), how I never write about marriage (and I'm not sure that I even want to), and bla bla bla...
But fuck it, it's my Internet Birthday. I'm going to go drink the last beer in the fridge and watch The Golden Girls.
Um, but you do write about marriage. Insofar as you write about your relationship with D$, and the day-to-day wonders and struggles of a life lived up close & personal with another human being whom you married. If it was only dry worthy tomes 'on marriage' all the time, I suspect that might wearing.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I know that feeling, that one's blog needs a tidy, or a sense of direction. All good, once you don't go disappearing on me now...
I'm with that smart girl. How is this not a blog about being married with kittens? Since, you know... you're married. With kittens. Don't try and write or post about something you need to force. Honestly, I kind of <3 what you bring to the table.
ReplyDeleteUm, why do you need to "do" anything with it? It's about you. And life. And marriage. Although it could probably use more about kittens. I feel that way about most things in life, though, so maybe I'm biased?
ReplyDeleteJust keep writing :)
Here, here to all these other posts. I love this blog. It is hilarious. And thought-provoking. And awesome. And I want to keep reading it. And where else can I find photos of hamsters (or are those rats?) in birthday hats? NOWHERE. The end.
ReplyDeleteOh, and also can I say that when the title "Baby Blog's First Birthday" came up in my blog reader, I kinda freaked-out and thought you were having a baby?
ReplyDelete@Everyone: Oh after I posted that I realized it sounded like a plea for compliments, which is wasn't but...I liked them anyway! Thanks so much for being a loving kick in the pants (and for saying nice things about the blog)
ReplyDelete@agirl: I'm not going anywhere, and thanks for the permission not to write tomes
@Blind Irish Pirate: although I do sometimes worry about not fitting the "theme" of the blog, my issue is more that I don't want to give the impression (to potential new readers more than you lovelies) that I am person who defines herself by her marital status and pets. That being said...
@Lauren: I was just thinking about how I need to get more kittens up in this blog, STAT.
@Love-it-or-leav-it: I am totally going to name my first child Blog now.
Ah, I understand not wanting to be defined as a marriagebot. ;)
ReplyDeleteThose are chinchillas, if anyone was curious. :)
But, but, I luuvre the name. Serious luvre.
ReplyDelete@Victoria: Good! That makes me feel a little better.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Lauren. More kitten goodness please! That said, I don't exploit mine enough either.
ReplyDeleteI'm with everyone else. I like the name, I think it is fun and quirky and playful. And you do write about marriage. But it's your blog. You can write whatever you want. And can I just say I'm glad you aren't going to disappear? :)
